How Powder Defoamers Function in Aqueous Media

A powder defoamer is composed of three essential structural parts: the active defoaming substance (silicone, polyether, or mineral hydrocarbons), the solid carrier (diatomaceous earth, silica, or sodium sulphate), and the dispersing emulsifier system.

When introduced into an aqueous foam system, the solid carrier rapidly dissolves or disperses, exposing the highly concentrated active defoaming liquid droplets.
